Elisheva Nesis is an artist trained in Moscow who lives and works in Jerusalem, Israel. For her art is a spiritual practice and her inimitable style, with its rich, vivid colours and recognisable elements; angels, cats, women and wine, borders on the surreal and conveys a feeling of imagination and fantasy. ARTIST’S STATEMENT My main interest is looking for signs of mysteries in our life and studying evidence of their penetrations into the real world. Almost all my paintings and books are around this theme. Also, I’ve been trying to detect mysterious penetrations in some border individuals. So it was just natural to me to settle in Jerusalem, the most mysterious place in the world. This city has a great influence on my paintings.
EDUCATION Elisheva Nesis studied fine art in Russia at the Stavropol Art School (P.Gorban’s studio) and in Israel at the Betsalel Academy of Fine Arts. She received her M.A. Degree in writing from the Moscow Literature Institute and a D.M. Degree. She also completed a postgraduate course in psychiatry in Stavropol Medical Academy. She is a Fellow of the Israel Professional Artists’ Association (IPAA). Elisheva has over 300 paintings and drawings in private collections in USA, Germany, UK, France, Israel, Russia, Ukraine, Canada, Australia, Italy, Netherlands and several other countries. Her art is now available online on www.goglobalart.com.
