Slavica Jovanovic was born in Belgrade in 1969, where she currently lives and works. She has always painted, but also graduated from the Faculty of Organizational Sciences majoring in Management and is a trained Engineer.
Her first encounter with the world of art was when she enrolled in a Creative Art Centre where she was taught the fundamentals of painting. She chose the acrylic technique because of its durability and the ability to be spontaneous during the creative process.
After a number of years of artistic practice she started to build her career a a professional artist, selling and promoting her paintings both within Serbia and abroad, and participating in several exhibitions. She is currently a member of the Serbian Association of Fine Artists.
“Ever since I was a child, I have had an urge to express myself in the field of art. I felt that it was an essential part of my nature. Searching for a unique form of expression I chose medium of painting; realizing that my thoughts, ideas and emotions can be best expressed through the composition, form and intensity of colour on canvas.
I am also fascinated by the metaphysical and inscrutable aspect of painting. In my work, I move from the real to the surreal – always painting with a lot of love.”
